Crime Report \/ Incidents 6th<\/sup> September 2021 to 3rd <\/sup>October 2021<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

We have had three crimes crime reported during the above dates.<\/p>\n

1 x suspicious person \/ 1 x ASB reported \/ 1 x Action Fraud.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Following an increase of thefts of catalytic converters,<\/strong> Thames Valley Police is urging owners of vehicles to take additional security measures<\/p>\n

In many cases, offenders use car jacks to lift the vehicle and are able to remove the catalytic converter in a matter of minutes. The following advice is provided for all vehicle owners.<\/p>\n

Defensive Parking<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 <\/strong>Where possible park in your garage. If not try to park next to a high curb or other area that restricts access underneath your vehicle on the side where the exhaust is fitted. If possible park in a well-lit area or consider security lighting. When parking in a car park avoid parking at the end of a row if possible to make access more difficult for offenders.<\/p>\n

CCTV <\/u><\/strong>\u2013 <\/strong>Consider installing a CCTV system to cover your vehicle as a deterrent.<\/p>\n

Welded Bolts<\/u><\/strong> – <\/strong>If your catalytic converter is a \u201cbolt on\u201d it is possible to have the bolts welded shut.<\/p>\n

Catalytic Converter Protective Sleeves\/clamps<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 <\/strong>Consider fitting a specialist protective cover or clamp to your vehicle to make life more difficult for an offender. Contact your vehicle dealership for options.<\/p>\n

Alarm System<\/u><\/strong> \u2013 <\/strong>Consider fitting a specific catalytic converter alarm to warn of any tamper attempts. Some alarms can send a text message to your phone and activate a siren and flashing lights. If possible choose a Thatcham approved product www.thatcham.org some alarms can also provide lift and tilt detection which offer effective protection.<\/p>\n

Identify\/etch your converter<\/u><\/strong> – <\/strong>Consider permanently marking your catalytic<\/p>\n
